More Than a Conqueror

READ

If God is for us, who can be against us? In all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loves us. (Romans 8:31, 37)

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. (Psalm 147:3)

Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand. (Isaiah 41:10)

Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. (Romans 5:3-5)

DEVOTIONAL

There are seasons of life when it feels like the odds are stacked against us; it feels like we can’t catch a break. When life throws one punch after another, it’s easy to feel defeated. Turning to the Scriptures helps us reclaim our strength.

Our faith is strengthened as we read the Bible because it enables us to peek into the past and recount all the miracles God performed. Our hope rises as we read about people who trusted God with impossible situations—people who were human, just like us. And our spirit is empowered as we read that the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead lives in us (Romans 8:11).

Diving into God’s word will lift you out of the feelings of heaviness and discouragement. Find verses that speak to your situation, highlight them, and memorize them. Find passages that inspire your faith and journal how they speak to your situation. Look for verses that remind you of the character of God and thank Him that He is who He says He is.

DECLARATION

In Christ, I am not a victim, but a victor. I am an overcomer, and I can do all things through Him who gives me strength. God is always working behind the scenes and on my behalf. I am strong, I am victorious, and I am empowered by God’s spirit.

PRAYER

God, thank you for your powerful Word. Thank you that you are always working powerfully on my behalf. Help me to lean into your Word during this time and use it to inspire my faith. Thank you that I’m more than a conqueror in you. In Jesus’ name, amen.
