You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit – fruit that will last – and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. (John 15:16)
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your path straight. (Proverbs 3:5-6)
For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. (Ephesians 2:10)

DEVOTIONAL
If you’ve found yourself distracted or feel like you’ve lost your way, you’re not alone. Sometimes it’s hard to focus on God’s purpose for our lives or the bigger picture. Additionally, the digital age makes it increasingly more difficult to focus. A recent study found that the average human attention span has fallen from 12 seconds in 2000 to eight seconds today. Want to know the saddest part? Goldfish have a 9-second attention span.
Corrie Ten Boom said, “If the devil cannot make us bad, he will make us busy.” There are times in life when we need to slow down and reflect on God’s purpose for our lives. We need to remember our why. When we anchor ourselves to our God-given purpose, it fuels us with passion and perseverance for our unique race. It changes the way we treat people, the way we pray, and the way we respond to the circumstances of our life. When we remember that we were created on purpose and for a purpose, it has the ability to change the world around us. And hey, maybe our attention span will surpass goldfish status too.
DECLARATION
Jesus is first in my life because He is my Lord and Savior. I exist to know Him, to serve Him, and to glorify Him. He will show me the path I am to take—a path filled with fullness of life and joy, and I will obey as He leads me.
PRAYER
Lord, help me to stay focused on my God-given purpose and destiny. Remind me that you have a plan for my life. Guard me from distraction, temptation, and from going my own way. Help me to accept the assignment on my life and not grow complacent. In Jesus’ name, amen.
