READ
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your path straight. (Proverbs 3:5-6)
Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. (Hebrews 11:1)
Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls. (1 Peter 1:8-9)
How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand – when I awake, I am still with you. (Psalm 139:17-18)
And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ. (Ephesians 3:17b-18)
DEVOTIONAL
When nothing seems to be going our way, do we still trust God? The testing of our faith is a natural part of the process of following God, but doubt and wavering don’t need to be our final destination. Circumstances will ebb and flow in life, but God is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). So when challenges in life come, the best thing we can do is anchor ourselves in God because He is the only thing that never changes.
You might feel like you are wandering, but if so, you are in good company. The Israelites wandered in the wilderness for 40 years, Abraham went on a long journey of wandering as he obeyed God in moving to a distant land, and even Jesus wandered in the desert for 40 days. Wandering can go two ways: we can wander away from God or wander with God. When we wander with God, He deepens our faith through the unknowns of life as we learn to trust Him daily.
DECLARATION
God loves me more than I love myself. He knows me more than I know myself. If He did not even spare His own Son but gave Him up for me—how will He not also graciously provide for me? He has my best interests in mind, and I can trust Him always.
PRAYER
Lord, thank you that even when I’m faithless, you are faithful. I pray that you would renew my mind with truth and that you would guide me through my season of wandering. Help me to trust you again. In Jesus’ name, amen.
