The MIX Group Guide | At the Movies
This time is all about building strong relationships. The win is that students are known, learning, and developing a faith of their own. These questions are to simply serve as conversation starters.
Series Vision
We’re doing At the Movies! Throughout this series, we will be pulling spiritual truths out of our favorite movies.
Your Goal as a Leader
The goal of the questions is to guide the conversation, engage students, have them share about the topics, and create a full environment. It's okay if you don't get to every question, as long as students are interacting and involved in group time.
Week One | June 7th
1. ICEBREAKER: If you were to have any animal as a pet, which animal would you choose? (Aliens also count)
2. Why do you think Stitch acted the way he did at the beginning of the movie?
3. Read Romans 8:14–17 together. What stands out to you about being adopted into God’s family?
TIP: This could be a good spot to touch on rejection. Many students have experienced this. Remind them that they are adopted into God’s family.
4. Why was it a big deal that Lilo chose Stitch even when others were afraid of him?
5. How would your life look differently if you truly believed God chose and loved you?
TIP: Always give an action step or challenge to your students. Help them to think of ways to carry the message with them into the week.
6. What changed in Stitch once he realized he belonged? How does this relate back to you?
Week Two | June 14th
Week Three | June 21st
1. Icebreaker: What Super Mario power-up would you want and why?
2. Read James 1:2–4 together: How can hard situations help us grow?
3. Mario had to lean into the hard things to grow. What’s hard in your life right now that God could use to help you grow?

4. What’s one situation right now where you need courage?
5. How did Mario’s friends help him when he was struggling?
6. Who are some people that God has placed in your life to encourage and support you?
Tip: Sometimes students just need someone to listen to them. Be that a listening ear, or encourage them that their parents or stepparents may also want to be that ear.
7. When problems or trials come, what steps can you take to learn from them and grow?

3. Read: 1 Timothy 4:12: What are some reasons students your age might think God can’t use them? How does this verse say otherwise?
