God did not design you to live alone. We are all created for community. We are stronger when we have friends and not trying to do life alone. This is even more true as a new believer. You need other believers to encourage, teach, pray, and worship with you.
In Genesis 1-2, we read about how God created everything. If you haven’t read these chapters before, you might want to take a look at them, but here is a quick recap.
In the first book of the Bible called Genesis, we see how the world was created. With little effort but wonderful creativity, God creates the heavens and the earth and everything in it. Talk about a lot of work in a short amount of time! But then again, there is no one like Him. He’s God.
As God creates the world, the same sentence gets repeated. In fact, six times after God creates something the Bible says, “and God saw that it was good.” From the light to the sea, to the sky, to the land, to the sun, the moon, the stars, and the animals, God’s rating of what He's created is always the same: it is good. God is pleased. Then on the sixth day, God creates people. And God is so pleased by what He’s created that His rating changes. He looks at people and says that we’re “very good.”
But then something crazy happens.
God looks at Adam, the first man, and says that something isn’t right. In Genesis 2:18 He says, “It is not good for the man to be alone.” God is telling us that we need community. We all need people to live life with.
Sometimes we can live lonely lives like Adam. At the end of a long, hard day at school, we come home and spend hours playing video games, watching TV, or spending time all by ourselves. We all need time to ourselves every once in a while.
But at the same time, we want relationships. Now, we aren’t talking about the mushy, lovey kind of relationships that we tend to think about. We want to be around people who know us and want to spend time encouraging us, supporting us, loving us, and helping us grow.
You see, we were created in the image of God and God is someone who, as we talked about in Starting Line, is relational. So when God said, “Let us make man in our image” (Genesis 1:26), being relational is part of that image. The need for a good relationship, with both God and others, is part of how we were created. We cannot win in life without being connected to others.
And this is why, from God’s view, doing life alone is “not good.” In Christ Fellowship Kids, we want to help you grow in your relationships with God and others. That’s why we’ve created a place where you can connect and do life together with other kids and leaders.
Parents, each weekend, your child gets to be a part of a group during our Christ Fellowship Kids service. As they come consistently to the same service, they will get to connect with the same leader and the same group of kids so that they can all do life together. We want to encourage you to take the step of coming consistently each week to the same service so that your child can build these relationships that will help them in their faith journey.
